How to return the yield on a discounted security using formulas
This Mhelp clip will show you how to use the YIELDDISC formula in Excel. This is useful if you want the yield value for a discounted security.

1 - Click cell A3.
2 - Enter the settlement date.
3 - Click cell B3.
4 - Enter the maturity date.
5 - Click cell C3.
6 - Enter the face value price.
7 - Click cell D3.
8 - Enter the redemption value.
9 - Click cell E3.
10 - Enter the type of day counting you want to use.
11 - Click the cell where you want to display the answer.
12 - Click the Formulas tab.
13 - Click Financial. A menu will appear.
14 - Click YIELDDISC. A dialog box will appear.
15 - Click the Settlement button.
16 - Click cell A3.
17 - Click the formula button.
18 - Click the Maturity button.
19 - Click cell B3.
20 - Click the formula button.
21 - Click the Pr button.
22 - Click cell C3.
23 - Click the formula button.
24 - Click the Redemption button.
25 - Click cell D3.
26 - Click the formula button.
27 - Click the Basis button.
28 - Click cell E3.
29 - Click the formula button.
30 - Click OK. The answer will be displayed in the cell selected.
